My Friends,

Hawk BallThe season came to a close for the Blue Hawks last night and though the outcome was bitter, the season was sweet!  OK, that’s a pretty corny way of saying I really enjoyed this season and I REALLY enjoyed this great group of players.  It was fun and challenging and there wasn’t a single day that passed when I couldn’t wait to get to the gym!  Coach Kate and Coach Cassy will agree that we had 12 players, every one of whom would fight to the end for their teammates.  They were unselfishly supportive of each other and of us.  They truly embodied the concepts of team, and camaraderie and commitment to a common goal.

To the fans and fellow players (Kim, Jenna, Paige, Danielle, Taylor and Sophia)  that came out to support us we want to say thank you so much for being there.   To Coach Morissette and Coach Taylor who work tirelessly to prepare their young players and have committed to building a great program; Thank you so much!  To the Boosters who were AMAZING all year we can’t thank you enough!  To the parents who helped support their daughters during a very busy schedule and who came to the games to cheer us on;  THANK YOU!

We will be celebrating the season on Friday November 15th at 6:00 pm in the Cafeteria.  Please stay tuned to the site for details about the banquet.  We will also have a sign up sheet for food etc available shortly.

Congratulations to our seniors and the entire Varsity team for a great season and for once again accomplishing our goal (you know!).

Hello Hawks,

Exeter Big E LogoWhat a whirlwind start to the season!  It’s been a lot of fun and a lot of work and all three teams have handled it beautifully!  Much thanks to the boosters club for all of their efforts this year!  A reminder that this Saturday we are holding a Car Wash Fundraiser from 8am – 2pm at the Sunoco in Exeter on Portsmouth Ave. (across from Dunkin Donuts).  The Shift schedule is on the calendar for each team!

Despite dropping a 5 setter to Spaulding, the Varsity received some nice press from Seacoast online this week in this article (Thanks to Ryan O’Leary for the coverage! Hit him up on Twitter at @RyanOLearySMG).

All three teams continue to improve and as we move closer to mid season.  We realize time management is a challenge for all.  Please remember to plan ahead for homework and projects.  Make sure to plan for plenty of sleep and be sure you are eating well.  Here is a nutrition handout for all: sports_nutrition_handout.  Also, here are some quick tips on Time Management for Students.

As a reminder, the Exeter Blue Hawk Volleyball Decals are in!  Please look for the order form from your daughter soon (will be handed out today) or they can be purchased at concession during home matches.  Speaking of which, we can always use volunteers for the Concession stand!  Thanks for volunteering.

Upcoming events:  As mentioned the car wash is tomorrow! Spread the word.  Also, We will be collecting money for the Susan G. Komen Foundation for the month of October.  We will have two nights to raise awareness (Dig Pink nights) on October 7th and 15th.  Remind your friends to come and support the effort and help raise awareness about Breast Cancer.  Please see this article for more information.  Thanks!

Have a great Weekend!

Coach Mike

Match Schedule & Season Update

Hello Hawks,

bluehawk2Today’s Matches:

  • Today the JV and Varsity will be released early from classes 2:10pm to catch the bus to Bishop Guertin at 2:20.  In observance of Yom Kippur we will return to the school before dark.  Therefore, both JV and Varsity will play simultaneously at 4:00pm (Varsity in the main gym, JV in the field-house).
  • The Freshmen will play at 4:00 pm at Exeter against the Broncos of Alvirne.  Please come support the home team!!!

First let me say that it’s been a great preseason and the first week of competition seemed like a whirlwind!!   The Freshmen team opened on the road against a very tough Nashua North team in the first leg of our triple header.  While the end result is not what we hoped for, the experience of playing a great freshmen team is invaluable.  Coach Taylor has high hopes of getting on track today vs. Alvirne.

The JV and Varsity both opened with wins at home against Manchester Central.  It was a nice way to start the season and confidence booster for both.  We traveled to North on Wednesday and again, the Titans were tough on both teams evening our records out at 1-1.  From the Varsity’s perspective, we felt as though the experience was only going to benefit us for future matches and we were quite clear about what we needed to work on to improve our chances of beating good teams like North.

Up Next:

  • Monday 5PM & 6PM:
    • JV and Varsity at Home vs. Pinkerton Academy
  • Tuesday 4PM:
    • Freshmen Home Vs. Pinkerton Academy
  • Wednesday 5PM & 6PM:
    • JV and Varsity Away vs. Alvirne
  • Thursday 3:30PM:
    • Freshmen Home Vs. Portsmouth
  • Friday – 3:30PM Freshmen, 5PM & 6PM for JV & Varsity:
    • Tripple Header VS. Winnacunnet

Have a great Weekend!

Go Hawks!
