cropped-Blue-Hawk.jpgHello Hawk fans everywhere!

The match today is confirmed and will begin at 3:00 pm at Spaulding High School located at 130 Wakefield Street in Rochester.  Come support Blue Hawk Volleyball and let’s pack the stands!

Yesterday’s Post with details about the match (and any corrections) follows:

Hello Hawks!

cropped-Hawk-Ball.jpgWhat an exciting time!! After hosting the Broncos of Alvirne High School and winning in 3 straight sets, we are headed to Spaulding High School for the second round of the playoffs!!  We would like to invite ALL JV and FRESHMEN players who would like to attend to ride the bus with us on Saturday.

WE NEED AS MANY PEOPLE AS WE CAN GET TO PACK THE SPAULDING GYM WITH BLUE HAWKS!!!!

Here are a few things you need to know about tomorrow’s match:

  1. The game is currently scheduled for 3:00 PM.
    1. Because there is a Senior Social at EHS, Spaulding has graciously agreed to move the match time, HOWEVER,
      1. If the Spaulding football game is rained out this evening, they will be forced to move the match time back to 6:00 PM
        1. We are hopeful that will not happen!
  2. Parents and Players will have to pay admission to the NHIAA (unless they ride the bus with us!).
    1. My recollection is that it is $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for students but I could be wrong so plan accordingly.

That’s it for now…  Wish us luck!

Go Hawks!

Hello Hawks!

cropped-Blue-Hawk.jpgIt’s been a great season so far and as we enter the final week of regular season, there are a couple of ceremonial events we want you to know about.  On Monday, we have our second to last home match.  As has been our tradition for several years, we will announce all of the JV players at the start of the match.  We expect that the announcements will happen at approximately 4:50 pm so parents should arrive a little early to the match.

Also, On Wednesday, Our last home match of the regular season, we will celebrate our Seniors on Varsity.   This year we have 7 Great Seniors!!!  As usual and in fairness to the visiting team, our warm-ups will be 6 minutes visiting team, 6 minutes Exeter, SENIOR NIGHT CEREMONY, and then 3 minutes shared.  We expect this to take place roughly between 6 and 6:15 pm.

Caleigh  Bousquin
Hannah Hoffmaster
Valerie Johnson
Kristen McLaughlin
Taylor Merrick
Jessica Peirce
Sophia Scola

Monday and Wednesday are triple headers (Freshmen begin at 3:30, JV at 5, Varsity at 6:15) and the last home matches for all teams.  Thursday marks the end of the Freshmen season as they will travel to Portsmouth.  On Friday, JV and Varsity travel to Spaulding High School for the last regular season match.

Enjoy the week!

Go Hawks!

Hello All,

Exeter Big E LogoOn Wednesday August 31st, there will be a parents informational meeting followed by a boosters club meeting.  This will be a good time to come meet the coaches and other parents.  We will discuss the upcoming season, the program philosophy in general and answer any questions you may have about EHS volleyball.  Also, the Boosters meeting will cover this year’s fundraising activities and some general administrative needs for the season.

We will meet in the Morrisette room located just to the left of the cafeteria and directly across from the Library as you come through the main entrance of the school.  For any questions, please feel free to email Coach Mike.  For anyone that gets lost, the Varsity will be practicing in the Gym during that time.  Coach Kate will be happy to send you in the right direction!

We hope to see you all there!

Go Blue Hawks!

Open Gym – Conditioning

All Players, Conditioning, Summer, Tryouts  Comments Off on Open Gym – Conditioning

Hello Hawks,

Blue HawkIt’s a very exciting time of year!  Tryouts begin a week from tomorrow!! Unfortunately there will be no open Gym tomorrow (Monday, August 8th) as the floors are not quite ready so make sure you have your paperwork in and rest up for tryouts!  We will have conditioning on Wednesday only (August 10th) this week in an effort to give everyone a full weekend off before tryouts.

Regarding tryouts, we just want to remind everyone to come with their best effort and attitude (both of which will be included in evaluations).  Regardless of the outcome at this or any tryout, audition, test or evaluation of any kind, you should always walk away knowing you gave your very best attempt!

A Note from Coach McDonnell:

“While we wish we had the resources to take all players, volleyball is very well attended at Exeter and unfortunately there may be cuts.  We ask all parents to prepare their children for that possibility and let them know that giving their best effort should never be looked upon as failure.  We like to remind players that many a great player was initially cut from their high school team (Michael Jordan comes to mind).  Try hard and regret nothing!

cropped-Hawk-Ball.jpgOften times we have players come out for volleyball because they have been encouraged that it is, or they perceive it to be, the “easiest” of the fall sports.  It is my experience that those players are shocked at what is required of them when they arrive.  Tryouts will be rigorous and volleyball is a demanding sport that requires physicality, stamina and a particular set of motor skills, .  We strongly recommend players come to tryouts fit and having practiced over the summer to reduce the risk of injury and improve their chances of a successful tryout.  Good luck to all!”

Up to date information can be found on this site and the official athletic site for EHS is here.

Please check to make sure all forms are filled out completely and
signed by parents and students where indicated.

Thanks and good luck to all,

Coach Mike
